The shell is a 500D TPU-laminated fabric in a cross-hatch khaki weave, joined entirely by high-frequency welding. Welding is not just a waterproofing decision — it changes how the pack ages. A stitched pack fails first at the thread line, where the needle has already perforated the coating and where a proud thread stands up to be abraded. A welded seam is a continuous fused bond with nothing standing above the surface, which is why the attachment loops on the front and side panels are welded tabs rather than bar-tacked webbing.
Protection is rated at IPX6: the pack is engineered to resist heavy rain, road spray and directed water jets from any angle, which covers the realistic worst case for a commuter, a motorcyclist or anyone working outdoors in weather. It is deliberately not sold as an immersion product. The closure is a waterproof zipper rather than an airtight zipper, and a pressure-relief valve is fitted to the upper side panel, so the pack is not a sealed vessel. Where a program needs a backpack that survives submersion, our airtight-zipper range is the correct family and we will say so at quotation rather than let a buyer discover it in the field.
The main compartment opens on an arced waterproof zipper that runs from one upper side across the top to the other, giving a clamshell-style access that lays the front panel open. A vertical waterproof zipper down the front panel reaches a flat quick-access pocket for a phone, wallet or transit card, positioned so it can be worked one-handed with the pack on one shoulder.
Both zippers are terminated inside welded end pockets that take tension off the last teeth — the specific point where zipper-closed waterproof packs fail. The sliders carry moulded pulls sized for gloved operation. Because the tape is welded to the shell rather than stitched through it, the zipper line does not become the leak path that a sewn-in waterproof zipper eventually becomes once the stitching relaxes.
Inside, a dark lining runs the full volume with a padded laptop sleeve on the back wall, suspended off the base and closed with a hook-and-loop retention strap. Suspension is the point that matters: a sleeve stitched flush to the floor transmits the whole shock of the pack being set down straight into the bottom edge of the machine. The sleeve accepts up to a 16-inch laptop with a slim tablet alongside.
On the front wall of the main compartment sits a full-width zipped pocket for documents, cables, a passport or keys, keeping small items from migrating to the bottom of a 22 L volume. The remaining space is left deliberately open rather than subdivided, because a welded waterproof pack is most often loaded with bulky or awkward items — a jacket, a helmet liner, camera gear in its own case — and internal dividers get in the way more often than they help. Custom internal configurations are available for programs that want them.
The back panel uses six independent foam blocks bonded to a shaped board rather than a single flat foam slab. The gaps between blocks form continuous airflow channels from the lumbar area up to the shoulder line, which is the only realistic way to manage heat against a non-breathable welded shell. A one-piece foam back on a TPU pack traps a layer of moist air against the wearer's shirt and stays there; the block layout lets it move.
The shoulder straps are contoured in an S-curve, padded through the shoulder, faced in a mesh-backed panel and finished with reflective-capable webbing detailing. Each strap carries a D-ring at the upper anchor for clipping a light, a camera strap or an accessory pouch, and adjustment runs on flat webbing through low-profile ladder locks. A bar-tacked haul handle sits at the top centre. Sternum and waist straps are available as running changes; the stock configuration is specified without them, since the segment that buys a 22 L welded commuter pack generally does not want dangling webbing.
Welded loop tabs are distributed across the front panel in two vertical columns and along the side panels, with a paired webbing anchor at the base of the front face. Together they function as a light daisy chain: a helmet, a folded rain shell, a bike lock, a tripod or a strapped-on dry bag can all be carried outside the sealed volume, which is exactly where wet or dirty gear should be on a waterproof pack. Every one of these tabs is welded, not stitched — adding a sewn attachment point to a welded pack would introduce a perforation for the sake of a feature.
A stretch side pocket with an over-the-top retention strap takes a bottle, a folded umbrella or a compact tripod leg. The pressure-relief valve on the upper side panel vents trapped air when the pack is compressed under a cargo net or carried to altitude, which stops the shell ballooning and stops the zipper being loaded from the inside.

Sealock has run OEM and ODM programs for outdoor, moto and travel brands for over 20 years, and the most demanding requirements on this platform can be met. Development does not have to begin from an existing model: our engineering team regularly builds products from scratch off a customer's sketch, a physical sample, or nothing more than a target specification sheet, taking the project through structural design, pattern development, welding-parameter validation, carry-system fit testing and pilot production. Both our high-frequency welding capability and our in-house sewn production line are professional operations in their own right, so hybrid constructions — a welded waterproof body with a sewn carry system, for instance — are fully supported. Ground-up custom development carries a longer lead time than a modification of an existing platform, and we will state that timeline honestly at the quotation stage rather than after tooling has started.

The immersion exclusion is a structural statement, not a hedge. SL-E1313 uses a waterproof zipper rather than an airtight zipper, and it carries a pressure-relief valve — both are deliberate choices that make the pack comfortable and practical for daily wear, and both mean it is not a sealed vessel. Held under water it will eventually take water in at the closure. For capsize scenarios, specify our airtight-zipper backpack range instead. The load ceiling is a carry-system limit: the stock configuration has no waist belt, so above roughly 12 kg the weight sits entirely on the shoulders.

| Shoulder strap fatigue | Cyclic loading at strap anchor points with no delamination or weld creep |
| Hydrostatic head | Shell fabric tested against internal coated-fabric standards |
| Abrasion resistance | Martindale cycling on shell, base panel and strap facing |
| Colour fastness and colour difference | Rubbing and light fastness; ΔE checked against approved lab dip |

| Low-temperature flex | Shell and zipper tested for cracking and stiffness at reduced temperature |
Quality control runs across three gates. IQC screens incoming TPU-laminated fabric, waterproof zipper tape, foam, hardware and valve assemblies against approved samples, with lot-level checks on laminate thickness and colour difference. IPQC monitors welding temperature, pressure and dwell time at every welding station in real time and pulls destructive seam samples at set intervals — a drifting weld parameter is the most common cause of a pack that passes visual inspection and then leaks in the field, and it is caught here rather than at final inspection. OQC performs the full functional and weather check on every carton lot.
The correct incoming-inspection procedure at the buyer's end is a heavy rain or water-jet exposure with absorbent paper placed inside the main compartment and the laptop sleeve, following IPX6 conditions. Do not run an immersion test — SL-E1313 is not specified to pass one, and immersing it will produce a failure against a criterion the product was never sold on. We will document our full OQC procedure on request so your incoming inspection reproduces our results. Third-party inspection by SGS, QIMA or a buyer-nominated agency can be arranged at any stage of production.
| Feature | Advantage |
|---|---|
| Fully welded shell and tabs | No needle perforation and no proud thread — removes the leak path and the first abrasion failure point at the same time |
| Welded-in waterproof zippers | The closure does not become the leak path once stitching relaxes, which is how sewn-in waterproof zippers eventually fail |
| Six-block ventilated back | Airflow against a non-breathable shell; a flat foam back on a TPU pack simply traps moist air |
| Suspended padded laptop sleeve | Setting the pack down does not shock the bottom edge of the machine |
| Pressure-relief valve | Shell does not balloon under compression or at altitude, so the zipper is never loaded from inside |
| Welded external lash points | Wet or dirty gear carried outside the sealed volume without perforating it |
| 22 L in a 14.5 cm depth | Full commuter volume in a profile that stays manageable in traffic and on public transport |
A welded TPU logo patch is the natural choice on this shell — tonal, dimensional, abrasion-resistant, and applied in the same process as the rest of the pack with no added perforation. Screen printing suits solid one- to three-colour marks at volume. Heat transfer handles gradients and fine detail. The shell can also be embossed during the welding cycle for a subtle debossed mark with no added material. Reflective print is available where a program targets riders and night commuters. Zipper pulls, D-rings, ladder locks and the side-pocket strap can all be colour-matched, and custom-moulded hardware carrying a brand mark is available at volume.
SL-E1313 is available as a stock platform for wholesale and as a development base for OEM and ODM programs. Minimum order quantity is 300 pieces per colour for the standard configuration, with FOB terms from Guangdong. Sample lead time is 7–15 days for a stock unit with applied branding, and longer where new patterns, custom hardware tooling or a different shell material are required. Sealock has built waterproof and welded gear for over 20 years, operates facilities in Dongguan, China and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and produces for brands including OSPREY, STANLEY, snow peak, MUJI and DESCENTE. Buyers managing tariff exposure across origins can run the same specification from either facility.
Buyers specifying a waterproof daily-carry line usually compare this model with the SL-E641 25 L minimalist airtight-zipper backpack and the SL-E698 25 L dual-slider airtight-zipper backpack where the program needs immersion-level protection rather than IPX6. For a tactical-leaning commuter with an external MOLLE panel, see the SL-E1145 25 L MOLLE commuter backpack; for a roll-top alternative, the SL-E986 20 L roll-top laptop backpack; and for a sewn, water-resistant option at a lower price point, the SL-E980 22 L bicycle commuter backpack or the SL-E965 business laptop backpack with trolley sleeve.
SL-E1313 is rated IPX6 — it resists sustained heavy rain, road spray and directed water jets from any angle. It cannot be submerged. The shell and all structural seams are welded and watertight, but the closure is a waterproof zipper rather than an airtight zipper, and a pressure-relief valve is fitted to the side panel; both are deliberate choices for daily comfort, and both mean the pack is not a sealed vessel. For capsize or drop-in-water scenarios, specify our airtight-zipper backpack range.
Because a fully closed welded shell traps air. Under a cargo net, strapped to a rack, or carried to altitude, that trapped air expands or compresses and loads the zipper from the inside — which is a real cause of zipper failure on sealed packs. The valve vents that pressure. It is a one-way moulded valve on a welded flange, and it does not compromise the IPX6 rating.
Yes, within the IPX6 envelope. The machine sits in a padded sleeve behind a waterproof zipper, inside a PU-backed lining, behind a welded TPU-laminated shell. There is no stitch line anywhere on the body for water to track through. Riding through a downpour or working outdoors all day in rain is well within what this pack is built for.
A standard 16-inch machine fits with the retention strap closed and the main zipper closing without strain. Thicker mobile-workstation chassis at that screen size are tight — if a program is specifically for those, scaling the sleeve is a straightforward modification on this platform. We will confirm against a sample of the actual machine on request.
It is the standard weakness of the category, and it is why the back panel here is six independent foam blocks rather than one flat slab. The gaps form continuous airflow channels from lumbar to shoulder, and the shoulder straps are mesh-faced. It will never breathe like a mesh-suspension hiking pack, but it is a substantially different experience from a TPU pack with a plain foam back.
Yes. They are welded TPU tabs bonded directly to the shell, tested to internal pull-off limits, and they are welded specifically so that adding external carry does not put a stitch hole in a waterproof pack. Between the front columns, the side tabs and the paired base anchor, a helmet, a folded shell, a lock or a strapped dry bag can all ride outside the sealed volume.
The stock configuration has neither. At 22 L and a typical commuter or ride load, the segment that buys this pack generally does not want dangling webbing, and a waist belt adds bulk without transferring meaningful weight below roughly 12 kg. Both are available as running changes for programs that want them, as is a MOLLE panel, side compression straps and a luggage pass-through.
Yes. Pantone-matched shells in matte or gloss laminate, contrast panelling, scaled patterns from roughly 18 L to 30 L, and alternative substrates including PVC tarpaulin, recycled TPU or a higher-denier base for abrasive service are all supported. If the program needs immersion-level protection, the same silhouette can be rebuilt with an airtight-zipper closure, which changes tooling and lead time and will be quoted separately.
Run a heavy rain or water-jet exposure under IPX6 conditions with absorbent paper placed inside the main compartment and the laptop sleeve, plus dimensional, zipper-operation, weld-seam visual and colour-difference checks. Do not immerse the pack — it is not specified to pass an immersion test, and doing so produces a failure on a criterion it was never sold against. We will document our full OQC procedure on request.
MOQ is 300 pieces per colour for the standard configuration, FOB Guangdong. Samples ship in 7–15 days for stock units with applied branding; new patterns, custom hardware tooling or a different shell material extend that. Bulk production lead time depends on order size and season and is confirmed at order placement. The same specification can be produced from either our China or our Vietnam facility. Third-party inspection by SGS, QIMA or a buyer-nominated agency can be scheduled at any production stage.
